FIJI?S ever expanding ties with nations abroad today saw three ambassadors meeting Prime Minister Voreqe Bainimarama and holding informal discussions about their respective countries.

Cuba?s non-resident Ambassador to Fiji, Her Excellency Maria Del Herrera Caseiro, non-resident Ambassador of Kuwait to Fiji, His Excellency Khaled Mohammed Al-Shaibani and the non-resident Federated Republic of Nigeria?s High Commissioner to Fiji, His Excellency Ayoola Lawrence Olukanni met with the head of government at his office today.

The three diplomats, who had a number of engagements in Fiji, told the Prime Minister that they found Fiji very beautiful and they were enjoying the good weather.

Mrs Herrera Caseiro said as island states the challenges Fiji and Cuba faced were very similar.

?We also face a lot of natural disasters and the people and climate of our countries are quite similar,? she said.

Mr Al-Shaibani, who had earlier presented his credentials to His Excellency the President Ratu Epeli Nailatikau along with Mr Olukanni, told the Prime Minister that it was his first visit to Fiji.

The Nigerian envoy, who has spent his entire career in foreign-service, said that he has known of Fiji since his days in Brussels through their participation in the African, Caribbean and Pacific meetings.

?It is a privilege to be here and seems like a homecoming,? he said.
