Police Update- 28th March 2013

1. Fake Notes

Despite so many awareness and warning another case of fake note was reported to police yesterday.

At ANZ bank, Nausori Airport a 26 year old bank officer discovered a $50.00 note with serial number CW797586 believed to be counterfeit.
The note has been seized for verification and investigations are continuing.

This brings a total of 12 cases of fake notes reported this year.
We are again advising members of the public particularly businesses to be alert when handling money and report any suspicious transactions to your nearest police station or community post, or call 919 or 917.

Members of the communities and businesses are being warned to be careful with their transactions during this long weekend.

People who distribute these fake money usually do it on busy period like the upcoming long Easter weekend.

2. Fire update

Post mortem conducted on deceased Keshni Narayan, Khusbu Narayan and Pramesh Nitin Narayan.

The cause of their death is 100% burns, 5th degree body surface. Suspect Naresh Narayan taken to St Giles Hospital for check up, whereby the doctor stated that he was mentally unstable as he had not taken his tablets for a few days and has been admitted.

Investigation continuing.

3. Suicide

Two cases of suicide were reported to police yesterday in first incident a 20year old FNU student of Voua village, Sigatoka was found hanging in their toilet using a sulu.

The body is kept at Sigatoka Mortuary awaiting post mortem.

In second incident a 61 year old of Vunivivi Hill, Nausori was found hanging from the rafter of his house using a rope.

Deceased was a known St Giles patient, body now at Mokani mortuary awaiting post mortem.
