Castaway Island Resort staffs bond during the three months of TC Evan recovery

Staffs of Castaway Island Resort cherished the moments of the last three and a half months of helping the resort recover from the destructions by the cyclone Evan, after the re-opening of Castaway Island Resort yesterday.

?Those months of recovery was the time where the staffs of these resort worked and spent time together, even though we really missed our guests,? Castaway Island Resort?s Chairman and CEO, Geoffrey Shaw said.

The resort sustained a lot of damages but the determination from the staffs didn?t change.

?They took ownership and provided leadership, they all worked very challenging environment, like the Hong Kong 7s Fiji team.?

?I feel blessed and honoured to have that spirit of dedication alive within our Castaway family of staff and the greatest outcome for us all is to have our guests back with us to once again experience the magic of Castaway,? Shaw said.

He also mentioned that Fiji Tourism has showed another phase of resilience when the re-opening of Castaway Island Resort took place after three and a half month?s recovery from the TC Evan destructions.

?Disasters have occurred over the years, the resilience of Fiji Tourism is outstanding, the people here work from the heart,? Geoffrey Shaw said.

Chief Guest at the ceremony, Attorney General, Aiyaz Saiyed-Khaiyum said the re-opening has been another major boost to the tourism industry.

?For tourism sector, we always have to think of the future and have to be critical,? he said.

Resort?s General Manager, Steven Andrews said they have been working very hard to get the resort up and running again.

?During the months of recovery, we have worked in other fields apart from our respective ones, in order to get thing done. It was a hard work but we enjoyed each other?s company. And this re-opening is a relief,? he said.
