Nadi Town Council has urged the public that no development to be taken place where the river diversion canal is situated to be projected.
Town Council?s CEO, Nemia Tagi confirmed to The Jet Newspaper that they are informing people living near the places where the project will be carried out in.
?We are also informing those who are buying properties by the area that the proposed river canal will be running along that direction,? he said.
Tagi said it is a very big project that will involve a lot of things that will take time before it materialized.
?There will be a lot of investigations carried out for the preliminary surveys, before the final design can be put into place,? he said.
Tagi also said the reports of the related projects on the river canal has been collected and now being analyzed thoroughly in Japan.
?The reports that were done by the engineers that came in from Japan in year 1996 to 1998, have been collected last year and they are looking at it carefully and thoroughly right now,? he said.
Tagi later adds that the process of scientific and engineering out will be done in Japan usually takes 1? or 2 years, before design are to be carried out.
?There are many factors to be considered while the project is commencing, such as high tides and flooding,? he said.
