CHAND LEARNS KOREAN EXPERIENCES

Public Service Commission permanent secretary, Parmesh Chand is currently in Korea at the invitation of the Government of Korea.

Mr Chand is attending the Public Relations and Goodwill Program organized by the Korea Foundation.

Since its establishment in 1991, the Korea Foundation has been promoting mutual understanding and friendship between the peoples of Korea and other nations including Fiji through various international exchange programs.

Within the scope of these programs, the Foundation invites prominent individuals from abroad who have distinguished themselves in various professional fields.

According to PS Chand, the Korean Government identified candidates for this? program based on their role in community and public affairs matters and upon initial identification by the respective Mission overseas.

?I will also take this opportunity to visit relevant institutions dealing with public administration matters and attempt to learn about best practices which Fiji could adapt from Korea to improve our efficiencies and public service delivery,? Mr Chand said.

?I will also visit the training institutions where our students and in-service officers are studying.?

Mr Chand will not return to office until?July 15?and in his absence, the Permanent Secretary Labour & Industrial Relations, Mr Taito Waqa will oversee the day to day functions of PSC.
