FIJI MISSION UPDATES FOREIGN MINISTER ON UN DEVELOPMENTS

Fiji’s Permanent Representative Mission to the United Nations briefed Fiji’s Minister for Foreign Affairs this week on the work carried out at their New York Office.

Foreign Minister Ratu Inoke Kubuabola stopped in New York on his way back to Fiji after he lead a delegation to the United Nations meeting regarding Small Island Developing Statesin Bridgetown, Barbados .

The briefing held at the Fiji Mission’s office provided an opportunity for the staff to brief the Minister on the upcoming 68th Session of the United Nations General Assembly. Fijian Prime Minister Voreqe Bainimarama is expected to lead Fiji’s delegation to that global session. Whilst there, the Prime Minister is expected to meet with counterparts including other senior government and UN Officials given Fiji’s Chairmanship of the G77 plus China.

Minister Kubuabola commended the head of Fiji’s mission in New York, Ambassador Peter Thomson and his staff for strengthening Fiji’s presence at the United Nations and in particular, Fiji’s presence within multilateral forums.
