Fijians living in the Western Division who have not yet registered to vote can now do so at the new permanent registration centre in Lautoka, officially opened today by Attorney-General Aiyaz Sayed-Khaiyum.
The Lautoka registration centre ? located in the new Births, Deaths and Marriages Registry at Level 1, Rajendra Prasad Foodtown Building, Westfield ? is one of two permanent registration centers already open while the other is in Labasa, located in the Ground Floor of Namuka House.
?This marks the beginning of the final phase of onshore registration,? the Attorney-General said. ?In the coming weeks and months, permanent registration centres will open in major centres around Fiji. These centers will give Fijians the opportunity to register at their convenience before the election writs are issued, especially young Fijians as they turn 18,? he said.
The Attorney-General added that registered voters can visit these centers to check their registration details for accuracy and make any necessary amendments.
?It?s very important that your voter details are correct,? he said.
