As confirmed by France’s Ambassador Gilles Montagnier in Suva yesterday: “The philosophy behind this assistance is to strengthen links between French territories and other countries in the Pacific, and to support a sustainable cooperation that will be economically useful for development in the Pacific.”

“This covers a wide range of areas from sports, education, training and professional integration of youth to good governance, research, the environment and technological transfers,” he said.

The Pacific Fund has been running for over 20 years now and has provided on-going assistance for a wide variety of projects in the region. In Fiji, it has provided support to both the University of the South Pacific and the Fiji National University for climate change and environmental research, solar energy projects, media development and many more.

The deadline for project proposals is the 01st November and interested parties are advised to contact the Embassy for complete details.
