FIJIANS REMINDED ON DENGUE FEVER WARNINGS

The Health Ministry is once again reminding the public to take precautions against dengue fever and maintain clean surroundings.

As recorded dengue positive cases now stand at 2137, the Ministry is intensifying all areas of support and awareness to control this figure and to inform the public on how best to avoid dengue fever.?

The Ministry said that because mosquitoes breed in areas that hold stagnant water, the public must ensure that any material holding stagnant water must either be destroyed or emptied. The Ministry said that by following simple cleaning routines, dengue mosquito breeding places can be destroyed.?

Using mosquito repellents, safe mosquito coils and mosquito nets will provide much needed protection against dengue mosquitoes.??

The Ministry is also reminding members of the public that the symptoms of dengue fever include high fever, severe headache, severe pain behind the eyes, joint pain, muscle and bone pain, rash and mild bleeding.?Those suspected cases should be presented to the nearest health facility for diagnosis and treatment.?
