Another six Police officers will bid farewell to their families for a one year period as they answer to the call of duty overseas.
The six will be departing our shores this Saturday for a year of duty under the United Nations Mission in South Sudan banner.
Acting Inspector Aseri Nakibo who will be the sole female officer in the delegation says she is looking forward to representing both her country and organization.
Acknowledging the difficulty of leaving behind her family, A/IP Nakibo says having the opportunity to be considered for mission duties ahead of hundreds of others was a real honour.
?I have responsibilities and duties as a mother and wife and it will be hard to leave them behind however I?m grateful that I have their support to carry out my duties?.
Meanwhile for the youngest member of the delegation 30 year old PC Prasant Indra Niel, having knowledge of the current situation in South Sudan has made him even more determined to make a difference in other people?s lives?.
?I?ve been researching the situation in South Sudan and am eagerly looking forward to seeing what we can do to bring about change in the lives of those that have been affected?.
?I do hope to also grow professionally from what I will learn while on this one year mission and will give back to the organization in whatever way possible?.
The delegation presented their i-tatau to the head of the organization this morning.
In farewelling the group Acting Commissioner of Police Ravi Narayan reminded them to stay true to their calling as police officers.
?We have a proud tradition of service in overseas missions and I expect nothing less from you?.
?When you have the right attitude and heart to serve you will find yourselves enjoying your work and the one year period will soon be over?.
On the same note the Acting Commissioner called on his officers to ensure the needs of their families are well looked after before they leave.
?Ensure everything at home is catered for so that when you?re away on duty you won?t be distracted by family commitments which you should have handled?.
The six depart our shores this Saturday and join 65 other officers who are currently on various overseas missions.
