Vodafone Fiji 7?s team to the Scotland and England 7?s tournament named today

(RUGBY HOUSE – SUVA) ? 17 APRIL 2014 ? The Vodafone Fiji 7?s team was named this afternoon at the end their one-week training camp in Pacific Harbour.

The team for this final leg of the HSBC Seven?s World Seven Series features Osea Kolinisau (Captain), Apisai Domolailai, Benito Masilevu, Donasio Ratubuli, Emosi Mulevoro, Leo Naikasau, Pio Tuwai, Samisoni Viriviri, Semi Kunatani, Vatemo Ravouvou, Viliame Mata, Waisea Nacuqu.

Non-travelling reserves include Samu Saqiwa, Jasa Veremalua, Jona Tuitoga, Joeli Lutumailagi, and Ropate Labalaba.

?It?s been a very good season where I think we have significantly over performed, ?said Ben Ryan, The Vodafone Fiji National 7s Coach at the Naming Ceremony at The Pearl South Pacific Resort.

?I?m looking forward to finishing with a bang in Glasgow, in London and continuing to build for the next season,? Ryan said.

?We (Fiji) are the top points scorers in the world; have lost only twice in the last 20 games; we also possess the top try scorer in the world.

?That?s great form to take to Glasgow and London and what I am after in terms of good performances in both these events.

Fiji last won in Glasgow in 2009 and is aiming improve their third spot position. This year our national team is pooled together with Wales, Argentina and Kenya in the 8th leg of the HSBC World Seven Series.

?It?s a long trip to Glasgow but the team is a strong one and all are united in wanting to get better as individuals and the collective, to keep moving forward,? Ryan said.

Speaking the Naming Ceremony Mr Sanjeewa Perera, Chief Marketing Officer of Vodafone Fiji said: ?On behalf of the staff and management of Vodafone Fiji we extend our well wishes to the team and judging from the last two tournaments and the way Ben Ryan has been managing the team we are certain that their performance in the next two legs will be a different ball game altogether.

The Emirates Airline Glasgow 7s will be held on 3 and 4 May at Scotstoun Stadium in Glasgow with a sitting capacity of 15,000 spectators. South Africa is the current defender of the Glasgow tournament and is tasked to defend their title.

The Marriott London 7s takes place the following week on 10 and 11 May. The 2-day tournament will be held at Twickenham Stadium, England with a sitting capacity of 82,000 spectators.

Fiji last won in England in 2012. New Zealand is now tasked with defending their title in London with all teams aiming for a strong finish at the last leg of the 2013-2014 IRB World Sevens Series.

The Vodafone Fiji 7s team departs Fiji for Scotland on 26 April. ?
