Fiji FA mourns the passing of Ibrahim

Fiji Football Association is saddened to learn of the sudden passing away of their senior board member Mr. Sheik Ibrahim.

Ibrahim passed away yesterday afternoon at the CWM hospital in Suva after battling a kidney disease since 2011. He was 67 years old.

Fiji FA President and Oceania Football Confederation Executive Committee member Rajesh Patel said Ibrahim will be missed by the football family in Fiji.

“Our thoughts and prayers are with his family who will have to go through this difficult phase,? Patel said.

?We have lost a great man today. One who had football in his heart and football was his life. He immensely contributed towards the development of football in Fiji and leaves behind a legacy which many of us would only dream of fulfilling.?

?He had a vision to take Fiji FA to greater heights and it is now our duty to continue his work as he is no longer amongst us. Ibrahim departs us now for a new journey and may his soul rest in peace,? Patel said.

Ibrahim served the Fiji FA board for more than 30 years. He was appointed as a senior Fiji FA vice president in 2011 after being elected.

In his colourful football administrator career he also served as the Fiji Primary Schools soccer association and Labasa Football association as their president.

He acted in the role of Fiji FA president in 2011. Mr. Ibrahim will be laid to rest?today at 4.30pm in Labasa.?
