RWCC trains male advocates as part of 16 days campaign

A lot of interest has been generated towards ending violence against women by 50 men from three different villages in Rakiraki.

The men, from Naboutolu Village, Vaidoko Village and Draunivau Village converged at the Naboutolu Village hall from 25 ? 27 November for a male advocacy training program by the Rakiraki Women?s Crisis Centre as part of its 16 days of activism against gender violence.

Over the course of the three day training, the 50 men got to learn about women?s human rights, gender, domestic violence, rape, sexual assault, sexual harassment, child abuse and family law issues.

Action plans included advocating women?s rights starting from home, clubs they were members of, church, youth group, village council, sports teams as well as to other men in their communities.
