The Acting Commissioner of Police and senior officers based at the Fiji Police Headquarters celebrated Christmas by acknowledging the hard work put in by staff throughout the year.

Dressed in their Christmas ?kalavata? officers and civilian staff took some time from their busy schedule to remember the meaning of Christmas with a thanksgiving service led by Force Chaplain Assistant Superintendent Reverend Isireli Kacimaiwai who emphasized the importance of family.

Rev. Kacimaiwai said as mothers and fathers we must adopt the values and virtues of Mary and Joseph when it comes to raising our children for the sake of a happy and stable home environment.

Echoing similar sentiments, Acting Commissioner of Police Isikeli Vuniwaqa said as parents juggling and trying to find a balance is equally important.

He also took time to recognize the hard work put in by headquarters staff during an Excellence Awards ceremony held shortly after the thanksgiving service.

?Thank you for the hard work in 2014 and let me tell you that in 2015 expectations will be high for us to perform?.

Making reference to Governments approval for the payment of the long awaited job evaluation exercise first approved in 2004, Vuniwaqa says the onus is now on officers to perform.

?Expectations from both government and the general public will be on us to deliver and we should not let them down?.

?Let?s work harder in 2015 to win back some of the confidence lost and this can only be successfully achieved if we improve our service delivery?.

Some of the awards given yesterday included the Fittest Police officer, Most Disciplined Officer and also best officer based on respective ranks.
