RA PROVINCE TO HAVE TRAINING CENTRE

In pursuing development opportunities for the youth of the Province of Ra, the Ra Provincial Youth Council has approached the Hon. Minister for Youth and Sports Mr Laisenia Tuitubou to establish a youth training centre in the province.

Ra youth council president Tevita Nakabea said; ?Knowledge is power and we believe it is time we work with the Ministry of Youth and Sports to establish a youth training centre in Ra for the young people of the province.?

?We believe that providing youth with knowledge and information will bring immense improvement and changes to the young people and the whole province.?

?There is only one youth training centre for the whole of the Western division, which is in Nasau, Sigatoka.

?It caters for all the youth from around Fiji as well for it specialises in agriculture and carpentry trainings,? said Nakabea. ?If Ra province has one closer or in the province we will be able to provide targeted and timely trainings to the unemployed youths of Ra,? said Nakabea.

Meanwhile, the Ra youth council have a resources centre located in Nakorotubu along the Kings Highway.

Minister Tuitubou told the executives of the Ra Provincial Youth on Tuesday; ?It is Government?s intention through the Ministry of Youth to establish youth training centres in all the 14 provinces in Fiji.?

?It is our prerogative to empower our young people and all stakeholders and youth practitioners have to unite to ensure that the little resources we have is maximised for this sole purpose,? said Hon. Tuitubou.

He said that the ministry is happy of its increased in 2015 and it is proof that ?Government is committed to working for and with Fijian youths?.

Mr Nakabea said that they will work hard to secure a piece of land to establish the training centre and provide all the documents to Government once they are ready.

?We are really committed to fulfil this aim and we are glad Government is supportive of the idea,? said Ra youth council president Mr Nakabea.

There are five youth training centres altogether in Fiji namely Naleba in Labasa, Naqere in Savusavu, Nasau in Sigatoka, Valelevu, Nasinu and Yavitu in Kadavu.
