NAVUA RESIDENTS COMMEND OPENING OF NEW LEGAL AID OFFICE

Residents of Navua and nearby community members have lauded the opening of the Legal Aid Commission office today by the Prime Minister,?Hon.?Voreqe Bainimarama.

Former Roko Tui Namosi, Samisoni Tuilawaki said that the new LAC office is a enormous relief for villagers and residents of Serua and Namosi as they no longer have to travel to Suva to access free legal services.

?Travelling costs at the moment from Namosi to Suva is more than $20 and if one had to come by boat then there would be additional costs included,? Mr Tuilawaki said.

?Now that we have a LAC office here in Navua, we are able to save a lot more especially for those that live in remote villages of Serua and Namosi.?

Similar sentiments were shared today by Roselyn Devi of Naitata, Navua who turned up at the opening of the new office.

?We are thankful to government for this assistance as it has eased travelling costs for us,? Ms Devi said.

?With free legal services on our doorstep we do not have to worry anymore about paying a private lawyer to assist us in legal matters and worrying about travelling costs at the same time.?

The Navua Legal Aid Commission office in Navua was the third to be opened this week by the head of government.More LAC offices are expected to be opened in the coming weeks.
