Weeekly weather update: (March 2-6)

Hot steamy and humid weather prevailed over the west this past week. Some heavier falls with scattered thunderstorm were evident, with large variations around the region. This was mainly due to an active SPCZ just to the south of VitiLevu while a weak low pressure was centred over southern Lau later moving away to the south of Tongatapu. Lautoka reported a weekly accumulation of 62mm while the highest 24 hour accumulation was 50mm for Penang Mill on 26th January.

Fine and sunny this weekend with isolated afternoon showers and thunderstorm. Otherwise, no sign of any major weather systems on the horizon but the risk of hazardous weather increases for the region from next week.
