MINISTRY HANDS OVER NAMAMANUCA SPORTING FIELD

The Honourable Minister for Youth and Sports, Laisenia Tuitubou officially handed over a sporting ground to management and land owners of Namamanuca Primary School on the island of Malolo on Friday.

?

While handing over the standard sized sporting ground, Minister Tuitubou reiterated Governments commitment towards the realization of rural sports development.

?

?Today?s handing over of this sporting ground signifies government?s commitment to developing rural areas especially in the areas of sports development.?

?

?I know that this newly built ground will be of great use to all in these surrounding island communities and that it will be welcomed by everyone,? Hon. Tuitubou said.

?

He also praised members of the surrounding islands for turning out in numbers to welcome and receive the newly constructed sporting field.

?

?I am very glad to see the large numbers that have turned up today to come and witness this event as it tells us of your support,? said Minister Tuitubou.

?

?You have been requesting government?s assistance for the construction of a sporting ground for quite a long time and the reception we have received is indicative of your anticipation,? he added.

?

Minister Tuitubou also mentioned government?s inclusiveness stance towards development and the ministry?s reaching out to the very remote for sports development as in the construction of Malolo island sports field.

?

School management and land owners of Namamanuca Primary School were also urged to work together for the regular maintenance of their new sporting field.

?

Kolinio Siganisucu of neighbouring Tavua island thanked the ministry for its assistance on the sports ground as it was a long standing issue for islanders to participate in sporting activities.

?Today?s handing over ceremony by the Minister for Youth and Sports has brought a lot of smiles to our faces because we have been requesting for a ground to be built here on Malolo for a very long time,? said Mr Siganisucu.

?

?I for one witnessed the difficulties our elders faced in the attempt to build a sports ground for us the islanders of Mamanuca, especially Malolo and Tavua island but with today?s handing over it has brought a sigh of relief to all of us,? Mr Siganisucu added.

?

Mr Siganisucu also paid tribute to the ministry for remembering maritime communities such as theirs in its development plans.
