Continuing on his trip to China, Prime Minister Voreqe Bainimarama offered the possibility of placing Fijian teachers in the schools of one of China’s fastest growing provinces, Guangdong.
“We think that Fijian teachers can make an immense contribution to China’s effort to improve the English language skills of its people. And especially in the area of international trade, which is, of course, a priority for Guangdong,? Prime Minister Bainimarama said in a meeting with Guangdong Province party secretary, H.E Hu Chunhua on Saturday.
The provincial capital, Guangzhou City, is the third largest city in China and the transportation and communications hub of Southern China, internationally regarded as a centre of foreign trade.
During the meeting, the Prime Minister also raised the possibility of support from the province to develop Fiji’s sporting facilities.
“One area that we are looking to for assistance is to improve and expand the sporting facilities in our capital. And I ask you to consider this as a practical way in which our relationship can be strengthened”, the Prime Minister said.
In his response, Mr. Hu said that as a sister city to Suva, Guangdong would provide the necessary assistance to strengthen ties.
