TIMELY DONATION FOR NAWAKA PRIMARY SCHOOL

In the quest to enhance education opportunities in rural communities, the Ministry of Women, Children and Poverty Alleviation has financially assisted the Nawaka District Primary School in Nadi.

The financial assistance will go towards equipping and renovating the school?s computer lab.NAWAKA KIDS

The Minister for Women, Children and Poverty Alleviation, Hon. Rosy Akbar visited the Nawaka District Primary School yesterday and presented a cheque of $7000. The assistance was requested by the school during Minister Akbar?s first visit to the Nawaka District School last month.

Mr Waisake Eceece, the Head teacher for Nawaka District School ?thanked the government for the timely assistance.

?We are grateful to the Ministry of Women for providing the much needed finance to upgrade the computer lab. This would benefit 404 children who will be undertaking computer classes and we will also be able to buy some new computers for them. Now, more students will be able to learn computing skills, it would be a great boost for their higher education and career.

?The Nawaka school management is impressed with the swift response by the Madam Minister. During the Minister?s previous visit we had requested for her assistance to upgrade the school?s computer lab. The school has also received positive feedbacks from the parents and teachers on the free milk and weet-bix program for the year one students. The program enhances nutritional requirements and instils healthy habits among students,? Mr Eceece said.

?Education is the basis to foster sustainable development, investing in our children is about investing in Fiji?s future. The Ministry provides support to over 5000 children through its social protection programs to ensure that all these children have equal opportunities to education. The Ministry will continue to reach out and support initiatives that promote enhanced learning and education in Fiji,? Minister Akbar elaborated.

Earlier, this year Minister Akbar has also provided similar assistance worth?$6000?to the Nausori Special School that now has a new computer lab for 50 students.
