YOUTH AND SPORTS DEDICATED TO YOUNG FIJIANS

The Ministry of Youth and Sports is dedicated to hearing from the young Fijians in the Nation.

Speaking at the graduation ceremony for 16 youths at the Naqere Youth Training Centre in Savusavu today, Ministry of Youth & Sports director, William Naisara said it was important to hear and act upon the needs and concerns of the youths.

?Gone are the days when the Ministry brought unrelated workshops to the public, especially to the rural population,? Mr Naisara said.

?It is our commitment to ensure that all young Fijians receive government?s assistance,? Mr Naisara said.

?These youths have been provided with the necessary skills and this should improve their livelihood.

?I believe that Naqere has empowered them with adequate skills and knowledge so they can become catalysts for community change and become good citizens,? Mr Naisara said.YOUTH AND SPORTS

Meanwhile, Mr Naisara said the practical training and tuition were based on fiberglass boats and small engine repairs that was conducted for five weeks.

?There are no doubts that these skills and knowledge will improve their livelihood and the Ministry understands that these skills and training are what our young people need,? Mr Naisara said.

He added that the training was a result of the requests that was raised by the youth leaders of Cakaudrove to the Hon. Minister during the visitation to the youth clubs earlier this year.

26 year old, Teaake Kaake acknowledged the Ministry?s support to the young people of Rabi.

?I learnt about this training when the Minister visited Rabi this year and we were advised about this training,? Mr Kaake said.

He added that he would return to Tabiang village in the island to make use of what he has learnt to assist him in earning an income through his skills.
