Minister for Health and Medical Services Hon. Rosy Sofia Akbar today officiated at the national Prophet Muhammed’s Birthday celebrations in Lautoka.
Accompanied by Minister for Local Government, Infrastructure and Transport Hon. Parveen Kumar Bala, the celebration brought together Fijians from all walks of life to celebrate the birth of the last Prophet according to the Islamic scriptures.
Speaking at the celebrations, Minister Akbar used the opportunity to highlight the need for Fijians to take responsibility of their health in light of increasing cases of non-communicable diseases.
She added that with Christmas around the corner, many Fijians would indulge in hearty meals and it was important that they ate in moderation.
“I would like us all to be mindful of our health and ensure that we exercise and take responsibility of our health given that we are in the festive season.”
