The National Disaster Management Office (NDMO) today received 200 smartphones from Huawei that will boost communications capacity during the critical periods of disasters.
Speaking on behalf of the global telecommunications equipment and service provider, Business Accounts Manager of Huawei in Fiji, Mr Eago mentioned that Huawei supports Fiji’s disaster management operations and will continue to support response and recovery to disasters in Fiji.
Minister for Rural and Maritime Development and National Disaster Management, Hon. Inia Seruiratu, while receiving the phones, highlighted that communications and technology are important during periods of disasters.
Minister Seruiratu said, “We are very much focused on developing the technology within and we are looking at our communications equipment and strategies as well.”
“This assistance from Huawei will make a significant impact on the work we do,” he said.
