U.S. Fiji-born father and son – Satya and Sajal Narayan of Amherst,
Virginia handed over cyclone relief supplies worth US$25,000.00 to
Fiji’s Ambassador to the U.S., H.E Solo Mara as their contribution
towards Fijian families adversely affected by two recent Tropical
Cyclones Josie and Keni.
The Narayan family, originally from Nasorowaqa, Bua said they read about
the devastations and floods caused by the two tropical cyclones and
thought of mobilizing resources to help fellow Fijians in great need.
Carton-loads of medical kits/supplies, assorted clothes, kids’ toys and
food items are all heading for Fiji shortly.
Ambassador Mara thanked the Narayan family for their kind gesture as
this would put smiles on the faces of the families and communities
affected by the two cyclones. He also expressed Fiji’s gratitude to the
Narayan family for making Fiji known in this remote part of Virginia
through their business connections.
Since their arrival in the U.S. in 2000, the Narayan family has done
well for themselves operating as ‘Narayan Properties LLC.’ They now run
gas stations, convenience stores, motels, a trucking company, car
dealerships and rental properties in Amherst, Virginia.
