38th Fiji Bitter Marist 7s Pools shows an exciting blend of teams in all pools

The organising committee of the 38th Fiji Bitter Marist 7s today released the final 78 teams (64 Men’s, 8 ladies and 6 Oldies) pools for the competition.

In announcing the pools today Chairman of the organising committee Mr Lawrence Tikaram says it has been quite a challenging task to ensure we have all top seeded teams head their pools, whilst at the same time we have a blend of very raw grass roots team to provide that extra special and unexpected competition. As you know this tournament does spring a lot of surprises and whilst we have the big names to add excitement and stiff rivalry, it’s the unknown’s one that may provide that added stimulus in our competition.

Tournament coordinator Mr Koli Korovulavula says if all goes bestowing to plan all the big guns will meet in the qtrs but then again you never know until the dust settles at the ANZ Stadium.

In the Women’s competition we see as well a good mix of International and local flair to provide some very exhilarating Women’s rugby over the two days. Women’s rugby is also a key focal development platform for the Marist Rugby Club and we are pleased to have the ladies play a big part in our tournament.

In the Classic oldies competition the tournament champions are expected to face tough competition from new comers Wardens along with Suva Oldies without having to leave out Fiji Bitter Mokani, Veivatuloa and Nawaka Broncos who may spring a surprise.

It’s important that all managers and coaches need to attend the briefing to be held on 6th March Thursday 6pm at Lambert hall located at Marist Brother High School Carew Street Flagstaff where team passes, tournament rules of engagement will be provided.

Also Fiji 7s Coach Ben Ryan will be addressing all coaches and managers along with tournament controllers, Medic, Fiji Sports Council, Fiji Referees and a Security briefing. Tournament draws will also be made available to all teams as well on that night.

The organising committee says by now all teams should have finalised their Top 15 player’s names along with Coach, Manager and Technical details and this should be submitted to the committee ASAP by faxing to 3300408 or emailing Anare.Wailevu@paradisebeverages.com.fj or marist7s@gmail.com
