QUARY WORKERS TO RECEIVE REDUNDANCY PACKAGES

All employees working at the Nasinu and Lomolomo Quarry will receive redundancies packages before the closure of both quarries on June 30th this year.

Emphasising the minimal revenue delivered by both quarries, the Fiji Roads Authority also said that maintaining the plants including obsolete equipment at both sites, would require massive financial expenses that would outweigh any profit.

The authority’s chief executive officer Mr Neil Cook said that since the establishment of the Fiji Roads Authority, assessments were carried out to determine the viability of both quarries including the high costs of business operations.

Meanwhile all 57 employees working at the sites will receive a redundancy payout in accordance with the redundancy payment guidelines of the Public Service Commission and other policy decisions of the FRA Board.
