I can confirm that Blacktop Construction Ltd – the Auckland-based contractor responsible for road work in the Northern Division – has gone into receivership.
Whatever the receiver decides, the Fiji Roads Authority will ensure that road work in the Northern Division continues. We will stand ready to deploy all necessary resources to the Northern Division as the situation demands.
At this stage, we are in early discussions with the receiver. The receiver has ten days to satisfy the Fiji Roads Authority that Blacktop will be able to continue to perform at the required standard and that Fijian creditors are protected.
Over the course of the next few days we will be in constant talks with the receiver and will provide regular updates.
