The Consumer Council of Fiji Lautoka Office will be conducting school visits throughout this month in Lautoka. The visits are planned for Deshbandhu Primary School on the 16th of April, Lautoka, Sanatan Primary School on 23rd April and at Lautoka Arya Samaj Primary School on the 24th of April.

The Council will be imparting information on consumer rights and responsibilities which are also part of the primary education curriculum. Students are made aware from an early age on the role of the Consumer Council, comparative shopping, asking for receipts, redress options and how to lodge a complaint with the Council.

The children of Fiji are young consumers of our nation hence they need to know the pros and cons of purchasing any product. The Council has a policy on protecting and promoting the rights of child consumers and school visits are just one of several ways we work towards achieving this.

These school visits is a primary step to engage with students on a first hand basis to educate them on the benefits of being an informed consumer.

In addition, these school visits are planned prior to closure of Term 1 and will assist students in making informed choices while they are shopping for products for themselves or assisting their parents in shopping.
