Friday 2 August – Digicel Fiji hosted a morning tea for its brand ambassador IliesaDelana to acknowledge his recent triumph at the Fiji sports awards.
Digicel Fiji Chief Executive Officer, Mr. Maurice McCarthy was joined by Digicel staff at Kadavu House to show their appreciation for the Paralympic gold medalist and 2012 Sportsman of the Year.
Delana is the first to win back-to-back Sportsman of the Year award.
“This is an incredible achievement by Iliesa and he has been on a great journey so far,” said Mr. McCarthy.
“His dedication to the sport and the amount of work he puts in is just reward that Delana has created history by taking out this award for two years running,” added McCarthy.
“I want to thank Digicel Fiji for their continuing support and this has helped me reach this far,” responded Delana.
Delana is nursing a knee injury which forced him to pull-out of the Paralympic world championships.
“I’m hoping to be back training soon and start preparations for next year’s Queensland Championships and the 2015 World Championships in Qatar,” said Delana.
Digicel Fiji presented Delana with a new Samsung Galaxy tablet during the ceremony.
