Wednesday 13th November – More than 50 competitors are all set to participate in the Accor Extreme Challenge to Cure Kids Fiji which starts in Denarau Island tomorrow. The 3 day multi challenge event will involve a series of both physical and mental challenges that will test the strength, fitness and teamwork of all competitors.

Digicel’s brand ambassadors, Fiji’s lone Paralympics gold medalist, Iliesa Delana and the Pacific’s fastest man Banuve Tabakaucoro will be among the star attractions also competing.
Teams of two from local companies will encounter both the physical requirements of training to swim, kayak and run, along with the fundraising challenge of raising a minimum of $1,000 per team for the event’s charity, Cure Kids Fiji.
Also joining Delana and Tabakaucoro will be former Digicel Fiji 7s coach, Iliesa Tanivula.
“I’m delighted to be part of this charity event and always happy to support kids,” said Delana.
“I am looking forward to some fun-filled sporting activities and let’s see what I can bring to my team in helping my team mates take on the challenge and supporting this charity is just wonderful,” said Tabakaucoro.
Cure Kids was launched in Fiji in joint partnership with Accor Hotels in 2006 to improve the lives of Fiji’s children. The challenges to date have raised over $1.25M and has included refurbishment work at both Lautoka Hospital’s children’s ward and Nadi Hospital’s maternity ward.
All teams have been busy fundraising and training in preparation for this weekend’s event. Organisers are hoping to raise $30,000 for the charity. The funds raised during this event will help provide the program with an additional echocardiography machine which is vitally important for the expansion of the Rheumatic Heart Disease program.
