FDB MARKET DAY THRIVES ON UNIQUENESS

The Fiji Development Bank’s monthly Market Day continues to gather momentum as it builds up to its third event for 2014.

Organised for its clients and stakeholders, the event has gained popularity for its uniqueness in creating a one stop shop concept
and likewise another medium for the bank’s clients to promote and sell their products.

“The market day thrives on uniqueness in the sense that we bring our clients to sell their various wares without competing with each other. For instance, we ensure that only one vendor sells root crops and another sells vegetables. This maximises the returns on their produce,” FDB chief executive officer Mr. Deve Toganivalu said.

“We create the enabling environment to monopolise the sale of a certain product whilst at the same time meeting with other bank
clients and building long term business relations. This is where the farmer meets the food processor and the shoe maker meets the
beef farmers who are the primary source of leather.”

The FDB Market is an initiative by the Fiji Development Bank to celebrate the spirit of entrepreneurship and showcase the
enormous agricultural and SME potential Fiji has.

“We are also inviting a few exporters to come and observe this event and talk with a few of our clients to see if there are
opportunities which they can take advantage of.”

“At FDB, we know our clients best and we always take the extra step in ensuring the success of their ventures and this is just one of
those initiatives.”

The event is an invitation only initiative to bank clients and stakeholders which aims to showcase the varieties of businesses
assisted by FDB.

To be held on 17 May, the market day will feature fresh fruits, vegetables, root crops, vacuum packed meat, fresh fish, sea food,
prepared food and other goods and services.

“The market day will feature everything you need for a weekend shopping and more from food to home wares, shoes and food. You can even get your hair done. Everything you need just meters away from your parking space. It is just the perfect shopping venue especially if you want to avoid the hassle of shopping in town.”

“If you have always wanted to make a business enquiry with FDB but did not have the time, FDB officers will also be available on
location to assist with enquiries. So you can shop and do business at the same time.”

The market day will be open from 6am to 1pm.
