FIJI WELCOMES AUSTRALIAN FINANCIAL ASSISTANCE TO ADDRESS DENGUE FEVER

Fiji’s Minister for Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation Ratu Inoke Kubuabola has welcomed Australia’s assistance to combat the dengue fever situation in the country.

Australia’s Foreign Minister Hon Julie Bishop today announced the Australian Government’s financial pledge of AUD$750,000 to help address the dengue fever situation in the country.

In response to this, the Fijian Foreign Minister said the announcement by the Australian Government recognises the severity of the dengue fever situation in the country and the commitment by international partners to address this.

He extended the appreciation by the Fijian Government and the Fijian people towards this financial pledge.

The Australian Government announced that this assistance will be “used to purchase medical supplies and fund an ongoing public awareness health campaign.”

“Australia’s support will complement the Fiji Ministry of Health’s efforts in health management and prevention, and help maintain patient care and treatment”, a statement from the Australian Foreign Ministry said.
