FIJIAN PRIME MINISTER SENDS CONGRATULATORY MESSAGE TO INDIA

India’s new prime minister Narendra Modi.

Prime Minister Rear Admiral Voreqe Bainimarama has sent a congratulatory message to the newly elected Prime Minister of the Republic of India, Honorable Narendra Modi.

In his message, Prime Minister Bainimarama pointed out Fiji’s political, economic and cultural cooperation as well as strategic alliances with the Republic of India.

“On behalf of the Government and the people of Fiji, my profound congratulations to your Excellency on your momentous election victory and your appointment as Prime Minister – Elect of the Government of India. The elections that have just taken place are model of the exceptional robustness of Indian democracy,” PM Bainimarama said.

“Your election to lead your great country and its people is a clear testimony of confidence and trust that the people of India have with your Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP). Your democracy, the world’s largest, stands witness to India’s deep commitment to the secular values to which my government feels particularly attached.”

The head of the Fijian Government said that Fiji looks forward to strengthening current relations for the development of the two nations.

“I am confident that the true spirit of friendship and cooperation that provides the unbreakable bond between our two nations and its people will be further strengthened in the years ahead.

“Excellency, as you prepare to take your office in your new mandate, I wish to assure, you of my personal commitment as well as that of the Government of Fiji, to continue to work closely with you and your Government to further strengthen the excellent bilateral relations that so happily exist between our two nations. I also take this opportunity to extend a warm and cordial invitation to you to visit Fiji at a time of convenience to you,” PM Bainimarama said.

The new Indian Prime Minister, Honorable Modi won a landslide victory in general elections last Friday to run the world’s largest democracy.
