Yet to be commissioned newly established rise in water level alert sirens are working out quite well and has been of well assistance to the people of Nadi.

“The sirens are up and running but we haven’t commissioned them, we are just looking at the appropriate date for it,” IWRM Nadi Demonstration Project Manager Vinesh Kumar said.

Kumar said the activation of the sirens is handled in safe hands in order to alert the public beforehand.

“The activation of the siren is on the hand of Nadi Town Council. If they are not there then it’s the Fiji Meteorological Services and the Nadi Divisional Officer,” he said.

Kumar later adds they have been constantly checking on river level.

The two sirens are automated and now located at Sikituru village and at the Nadi Fire Station.
