His Excellency Huang Yong Ambassador for the People’s Republic of China to Fiji paid a courtesy call on the Secretary General of the Pacific Island Development Forum Mr Feleti Teo yesterday at the PIDF Secretariat Building at 56 Domain Road Suva.
Welcoming Ambassador Yong to the PIDF Secretariat Building Mr Teo noted that he was the first Ambassador from an important development partner to visit the PIDF Secretariat Building since its opening by the Prime Minister on the 26th April.
Mr Teo acknowdged the generous support extended to the PIDF last year by the People’s Republic of China when it provided sponsorship to the highly successful inaugural meeting of the PIDF last August.
The PIDF Second Leaders’ Summit is scheduled for the Sheraton Denarau Nadi from 18th – 20th June this year. The theme for the Second Summit will be, “Green Growth in the Pacific: Building Resilient Sustainable Futures and Genuine Partnerships.” A United, Distinctive and Sustainable Pacific Society.
Ambassador Yong expressed his Governments willingness to assist the PIDF fulfill its very important mission of enabling Green Growth through integrated strategies, inclusive multi-stakeholder governance structures and genuine partnerships at all levels of Pacific society. He also indicated that his Government looks forward to participating again in this year’s Leadership Summit.
