1. The search for the two men in the Lau Group continues this morning. The two aged 32 and 35 years of age left Dakuiloa Village, Oneata on 26/09/13 at 1000hrs, 2 Male i-Taukei’s for Moceisland in a fibre glass boat powered by a 40 HP engine.

They were supposed to arrive at Moce Island at 1100hrs on the same day but have not arrived till now. Mariners are once again requested to keep a look out for the two and call 917.

2. The man accused of causing the death of a 49 year old woman earlier this week appeared at the Nausorit Magistrates Court yesterday.

JiutaVeqaravione count of causing by dangerous driving has been bailed with the sum of $1000.00 and warned to report to theNabua Police Station on the last Saturday of the month between 6am -6pm, not to change residential address, not to re-offend whilst being on bail and not to interfere with police witness.

Case has been adjourned to 11/11/13.

 

Fraud

Two men will be produced at the Suva Magistrates Court on Monday charged with allegedly defrauding the Education Ministry of close to $60,000.

The transactions are alleged to have taken place between the period of 19/04/12 – 06/07/13. The first accused is a 33 year old Clerical officer and has been charged with 68 counts of falsification of document.

The second accused a 27 year old casual worker has been charged with 43 counts of obtaining financial advantage by deception.

 

It is alleged the first accused raised false vouchers together with bus fare ticket summaries under the name of the second accused claiming the 27 year old was providing transport services to the students of a primary school.

Altogether accused number one then allegedly raised 43 cheque payments amounting to $59, 403.80 drawn from the Permanent Secretary of Education Drawings account.

Both will appear in custody on 30/09/13.
