The Reserve Bank of Fiji will be one of the sponsors of the 2014 Central Division Agriculture Show that will be held from 10 – 12 September 2014 at Syria Park in Nausori. The Bank is contributing $10,000 towards the hosting of the Agriculture Show.
The main theme for this Central Division Show is “Sustainable Family Farming for Food, Nutrition and Livelihood Security” and is derived from the Food and Agriculture Organisation which recognises and celebrates the vital role of family forestry in celebration of the 2014 International Year of Family Farming. This year’s theme also reflects the importance of agriculture in supporting and promoting a healthy and wealthy Fiji.
The Deputy Governor of the Reserve Bank of Fiji, Mr Ariff Ali highlighted that “the agriculture sector remains an important contributor to the national economy, provides employment and have economic and social linkages. The sector also plays critical role in terms of food security, income generation, poverty alleviation, import substitution, export promotion and is one of the key drivers of economic growth. The Bank is pleased to participate at the Show”.
The Bank will have an information booth at Syria Park in Nausori and will also be sponsoring special recognition awards including the Central Farmer of the Year Award.
