Another death on our roads

A 25 year old woman is the country’s latest road victim.

The 25 year old deceased was travelling with another 22year old woman bound for Suva from Nadi when the vehicle they were travelling in allegedly went off the road along Semo yesterday afternoon.

The vehicle driven by the deceased allegedly failed to negotiate a bend resulting in the accident whereby the vehicle went off road and then tumbled into a ditch.

She was taken to the Sigatoka Hospital however was pronounced dead on arrival.

Meanwhile the 22year old passenger was treated for minor injuries and sent home.

Vehicle sustained extensive damage and is currently at the Sigatoka Police Station.

A post mortem is expected to be conducted as investigations continue.

Another life has been lost and it is unfortunate that we have to issue this reminder for the need to be cautious at all times on our roads.

Road safety is every individuals responsibility and everyone must do their part in ensuring no other unnecessary loss of life occurs.

Road death toll currently stands at 27 compared to 30 for the same period last year.
