The mighty blacks continued their unbeaten run when they hammered the giant killers Navua 2-0 at Prince Charles Park in the round 2 of Fiji Sun/GP Batteries national football league earlier today.

Ba dominated the play with fierce attacks on Navua goal mouth. Coach Yogendra Dutt made some tactical changes in the second half resulting in the first goal by Roneel  kumar. He powered a cracker of a shot which blazed past Sheik Mosheen.Tumasi Manuca scored the second  from a corner kick.

“Ba played attacking football but Navua crowded their midfield which didn’t allow the boys to play constructive football,” said coach Dutt.

“Debutant Manasa Junior was the youngest striker to play for Ba and he lived up to expectations,” he added.

With the new signings Netani Doli and Apisai Smith Navua looked dangerous in counter football.

The red devils were stunned by the first goal.

“The boys got demoralized after the first goal and it led to the downfall,”Navua coach Manoj Kumar said.

In the other match of the day, hosts Nadi stunned Rewa with a 2-1 win.

The Jetsetters started the game on a high after a win and a draw in the last fixture. Early in the game Napolioni Qasevakatini nodded in the opener from Uraia Loki’s cross as Rewa captain and goalkeeper Simione Tamanisau was stunned by the Bavu lad.

Nadi maintained their pressure as Rusiate Mateirerega sliced the cross bar.

With Isefo Verevou replacing Sailosi Livatalo in the midfield, Rewa started attacking the Nadi defence. A blunder saw Isefo capitalize from 18 yards out. Benamino was left standstill with his powerful left foot drive.

Lekima Genera scored for the green machines in injury time to give them the much needed win. “It was a must win for us to stay in competition for top 8 and also the national league series title,” said Nadi coach Kamal Swamy.

Nadi’s Amani Makoe, Arvind Pratap and Ajesh Narayan were copped with yellow cards for dangerous play by referee.
