Banuve Tabakaucoro re-signs with Digicel

Friday 12 July – Digicel Fiji has announced that Pacific sprint champion RatuBanuve Tabakaucoro has re-signed as its Brand Ambassador for two more years. The Bau man first signed on as a Brand Ambassador in 2010.

Tabakaucoro recently returned after scooping gold medals in the 100m and 200m at the Oceania Championships in Tahiti. This was an excellent performance by the man dubbed as the ‘Bau Bullet” because this was his first serious outing after being out due to injury. He also set a new Oceania area record in the 200-metres, 21.08 seconds.

The former Marist Brothers student is all psyched up as he prepares to run at the World Championships in Moscow next month. The 20-year old will be the trump card for Team Fiji Athletics at the Pacific Mini Games in Wallis and Futuna in September.

“I am honoured to continue with Digicel Fiji as its Brand Ambassador and wish to thank them for having confidence in me,” says Tabakaucoro.

“Since joining three years ago, I have had a lot of support from Digicel Fiji. The opportunities to be a part of many promotional and community activities was a great experience. I’m preparing well with my coach for the World Champs in Moscow and will be targeting to clock personal best times in the sprint races,” said Tabakaucoro.

Digicel Fiji’s Head of Marketing Ms Sheryl Singh states, “We are pleased to have Banuve continue as our Brand Ambassador. He is a star athlete and a role model for Fijians and we wish him all the best in his future endeavours.”

Ms. Singh presented Tabakaucoro with a new Samsung Galaxy 4 handset at the signing ceremony.
