Digicel Fiji 7s team received a huge blow today, after Captain Setefano Cakau has been ruled out of the Hong Kong and Japan 7s due to injury.

Cakau ruptured a medial ligament in his left knee during the scrimmage session at Nasova on Friday.

Fiji Rugby Union’s Medical Co-ordinator and Team Physio- therapist, William Koong told FRU that Cakau was reviewed by Dr Eddie McCaig and was ruled out.

“After a thorough review by Dr McCaig, Cakau has been ruled out.  He will have to go through a strict rehabilitation program to help his knee heal in time for the London and Scotland 7s,” he said.

Cakau who is currently in camp with the 16 member squad said that he has a lot of faith in the team.

“I have a lot of faith and trust in the team and just want to wish them all the best on the eve of the naming of the final 12.  I of course will be cheering for them here at home,” he said.

The big question now is, who will be capable enough to take over the reigns of team captain with both Cakau and Lepani Botia ruled out.
