Tomasi Cama and Lote Raikabula are in the list for the captain’s role of the New Zealand 7s team at this weekend’s USA 7s after DJ Forbes was ruled out after suffering an injury.

The duo were named as Vice Captains last week in Wellington and will create history if given the role as they could be the first Fijian ever to captain an New Zeland 7s side.

Speaking to the Jet newspaper after the Wellington 7s, Play maker Tomasi Cama said they will continue to focus on maintaining their lead on the overall IRB 7s standings.

“We expect the other teams to keep ticking away with their points on the series and all want to improve and do better in Vegas, so it’s going to be another challenge for us but we are looking forward to it,” he said,” he said.

The New Zealand 7s team has been forced to make two key changes to their squad following injuries to two of its key players.

DJ Forbes injured a knee and Kurt Baker a hamstring in Wellington.

Mark Jackman and Milford Keresoma will be replacing the two.

Meanwhile, Fiji will play England at 12pm Saturday in the first pool match of the USA 7s.
