Miss World contender Charlene Tafuna’i visited the Children’s Ward at the CWM Hospital today (7) as part of a fund raising effort to purchase a  $64,000 ventilator machine and it is all being recorded in a 3 – minute documentary.

The documentary, being directed by Andhy Blake in the Children’s Ward, will focus on the Nadi native’s fund raising efforts. When completed it will be sent to Miss World headquarters in London as part of the competition.

All of the contestants are participating in the fund raising called Beauty with a Purpose, and it is of significant importance in the judging of the girls.

“It is a major part of the journey to Miss World for it is a community event where everyone can contribute.  In purchasing the machine we will provide serious relief for the children and others who have trouble breathing.  It is expensive, but from what I have seen, it is worth every dollar,“ said Charlene.

The Miss World finals will take place in London on December 14.
