CHINESE ENVOY PRESENT CREDENTIALS TO FIJIAN PRESIDENT

THE People’s Republic of China’s Ambassador to Fiji His Excellency Zhang Ping presented his letters of credence to His Excellency the President, Ratu Epeli Nailatikau at Government House this morning.

 

The new envoy officially begins his term here in Fiji and comes from the Foreign Service background having worked at PRC’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs for the vast majority of his career.

 

Mr Ping graduated from Beijing Foreign Affairs College, majoring in international relations in 1985 and also attended a training program in New Plymouth, New Zealand in 1990.

 

During his time at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in China, his area of focus was the Department of American and Oceanian Affairs where he served in various capacities.

 

Mr Ping has served in China’s missions in countries such as Vietnam, United States and Australia.

 

Prior to his appointment to Fiji, he was the Vice President of the Chinese People’s Institute of Foreign Affairs.

Ambassador Ping is originally from the Jiangsu Province in China.
