Council to host workshops for Western Consumers

Premila Kumar.

Debt Management, mobile phones, lay buy sales, door to door sale, price controlled items, landlord & tenants rights and responsibilities and utility bills will be some of the main issues discussed at the Consumer Council of Fiji organized workshops scheduled for Western division, this week.

The Council believes that consumer education is important as it will empower consumers to make well-informed choices. Through consumer education the Council will teach people the skills, attitudes and knowledge required to interact in a marketplace.

A well-aware consumer will be better organized in his/her everyday life.

The Council will be conducting the workshops in Rakiraki town on Wednesday 4th June at George Shiu Raj Building and in Lautoka City at Sugar Cane Growers Council on Thursday 5th June – in a bid to empower Western consumers on pertinent consumer issues affecting them.

The above topics have been selected based on the consumer feedback the Council has been receiving from Western consumers.

These workshops will also provide an opportunity for the participants to raise any concerns affecting them.
