Digicel and Punjas joint sponsors of Digicel Punjas National Netball Championships

Wednesday, 20th August 2014 – Digicel Fiji and Punjas have today announced a joint sponsorship of the National Netball Championships to be held in Lautoka on Friday and Saturday.

This is the first time that Digicel and Punjas have combined to sponsor Netball in Fiji, which is the largest female participation sport in the country. Both companies are contributing $10,000 in cash and kind, taking the total sponsorship to $20,000.

“I am delighted that we can continue to support Fiji Netball following an extremely successful Digicel Tri-Series sponsorship earlier this year.” said Digicel Fiji’s Commercial Director, Mr. Andrew Skelton.

“I am delighted that we have continued our relationship with Fiji Netball, highlighting our commitment to Fiji’s largest female participation sport. This is coupled with our ongoing to support for ‘Women in Business’, highlighting Digicel’s support for female achievements and activities nationwide.”

Punjas Group Marketing Manager, Mr. Gopal Jadhav was elated after signing the agreement in Suva this morning. This is the first time Punjas Group has come on board as a major sponsor of Fiji Netball.

“We are over-joyed to partner with Digicel and support the National Netball Championships,” said Mr. Jadhav.

“Most of our products are used by women and we are happy to support the largest female participation sport in the country. I can assure you that this is the start of a long journey of partnership with Fiji Netball.”

Netball Fiji President, Mrs. Wainikiti Bogidrau was delighted to pen the new deal as the organization looks to host a successful two-day Championship in Lautoka this weekend.

“This sponsorship has come just days before the Championship and we are thankful to both Digicel and Punjas for this sponsorship and ongoing support,” said Mrs. Bogidrau.

“The 23 teams participating from around Fiji will showcase Fiji’s elite talent, and provide spectators the opportunity to watch top class netball. The National Championships serve as a trial for the national team, with newly appointed Fiji Netball coach Kate Carpenter in attendance to select her training squad.”

The Digicel Punjas National Netball Championship will start on Friday morning with the finals scheduled for Saturday afternoon at the Lautoka multi-purpose courts.
