Digicel provides timely boost to special and orphan homes with back-to-school items.

Monday 19th January 2015 – Digicel Fiji joined hands with Star Printery and SingzPlus to bring joy to some special children with back-to-school aid.

The group of companies gave exercise books and money to HART in Valelevu, Saint Christopher’s Home in Naulu and Dilkusha Home in Davuilevu. Close to a hundred children in these special institutions will benefit from the timely back-to school aid as children prepare to head back to classes tomorrow.

Hart Valelevu Chief Executive Officer, Mr. Paserio Furivai said,” This is a timely donation as HART have many families who have requested for books for their children for the new school year.”

“Education for their children is a way these families see that they can get themselves out of HART Homes,” added Mr. Furivai.

Saint Christopher’s Home’s Sister Sandra was elated to receive books and money from the three companies. “This will greatly help the 24 children who will be going back to school. They can now have new books and we will also purchase other items with the money that has been given to us.”

There will be 18 children going to primary and secondary schools from Dilkusha Home while they have 2 going to vocational, 2 to kindergarten and 1 to a special school.

Head of Dilkusha Home, Deaconess Leba Laveti acknowledged the support from the companies and said this will help the children a lot in their back-to-school preparations.

Digicel Fiji in partnership with Star Primtery and SignzPlus raised money for this during Christmas and New Year at the Christmas tree at Damodar City by selling candy floss and a public donation box.
