Drowning claims two lives

A 19 year old is believed to be the country’s latest drowning victim.The victim from Navuso Village, Naitasiri is alleged to have jumped into the Waila Creek and failed to surface. He had accompanied two others to the Waila Pumping Station where they were fishing at about 6pm.

After he failed to surface a search was conducted however which proved futile. The search continues today.

Meanwhile the body of the 24 year old that had gone missing in the flooded Vorovoro River last Saturday has been found.

The search team retrieved his body from the Vorovoro River at around 5pm yesterday.The current drowning toll stands at 41 compared to 44 for the same period last year.
