The Fiji Development Bank yesterday (26/03) donated one refurbished computers each to Ratu Luke Veikoso Primary School and Matainoco Kindergarten in Tailevu. This follows an earlier request from the two schools.

FDB’s branch manager Nausori, Mr. Mosese Uluicicia, presented the computers on behalf of the bank. In his presentation, Mr. Uluicicia said that on behalf of the bank he was delighted that the bank could help assist the schools albeit in such a small way.

“We are so fortunate for the assistance because all of the teachers here are sharing just one computer. The school roll is 98 and all of the administrative needs of these 98 students are done on one computer. With the addition of this computer is going to really assist us,” said Mrs Koroisau, the head teacher for Ratu Luke Veikoso Primary School in Matainoco.

Established in 1983 and primary school caters children from the villages of Nabouciwa, Bureitu, Matainoco and Naivakacau.

Matainoco kindergarten teacher Kasanita Dalituicama revealed that until today (26/03), the kindergarten did not have a computer and all work for the children had to be done manually.

“We are still writing everything on paper. If we need anything typed, we will have to travel for at least an hour to Nausori town to have it typed printed for the children.  This computer will make a great difference for us,” Mrs Dalituicamasaid.

The kindergarten with a roll of 29 was opened in 2010 and serves children from the villages of Matainoco and Bureitu.
