Fiji Airways, Fiji’s National irline, has announced a permanent second service in its schedule from Christchurch to Nadi, effective Tuesday, 23 June 2015, to offer South Islanders more opportunity to fly direct to Fiji for leisure and business.
The airline presently operates a weekly Saturday service, and the additional flights will be scheduled for Tuesday morning departures. The twice weekly flights offer convenient one-stop service from Christchurch to Loa Angeles via Nadi.
Stefan Pichler, Fiji Airways Managing Director & CEO says “The additional service will be a real benefit to South Island travellers planning to rest and relax in Fiji, as well as those using Nadi as a transit point to Los Angeles and other North American cities.
“The new service will offer an extra 328 seats between Christchurch and Nadi and leisure travellers will have more options when booking flights. Our convenient flight timings will also appeal to local travellers and those travelling between regional airports.”
“South Island holiday-goers will now also be able to choose to go to Fiji for a quick three or four night escape or stay for 10 days or more!

Christchurch Airport CEO Malcolm Johns says the permanent additional Fiji Airways flights will offer new opportunities for South Island travellers visiting Fiji and further afield.
“We have seen increased interest in South Island travellers visiting Fiji and Northern America, and the additional Fiji Airways service reflects the appetite Cantabrians and the greater South Island market have for international travel,” Mr Johns said.
Fiji Airways has been operating a year-round service to Christchurch since 1997, making 2015 the 18th year since operations began.
